Orange alert
Or, how to avoid being scammed by your government. For the next couple of weeks anyway.
This one is going out to all of the American subscribers. If you’re in any other part of the world, you can stop reading now.
The current US Administration is suspending the de minimis exception for imported goods from the 29th August. That means, as far as I can determine (sorry if you know this already) that anything you buy as an import into the USA will be subject to a minimum $80 import fee (from the UK - it might be higher for other countries - depending on the tariff rate that’s been applied to them).
Two things then.
First of all - If you reside in the US, and were considering ordering a copy of These Pages Fall Like Ash, or From Bitter Ground (there are also other books, prints and art on the site), then you should order well before the 29th August. I’ll ship everything ordered before August 22nd on a next day basis, and it should clear customs before the charges come into force.
Secondly - I’m also keeping the reduced £10 price tag on These Pages and From Bitter Ground. Seems the most dignified thing to do in the circumstances.
Thirdly - I’m sorry about this. Really.
Fourthly - this is in force (apparently) for six months. Or until the whims of the occupant of the Oval Office decide otherwise.
Be well, take care, and let’s hope we’re all still here by Christmas.
Tom
